Connect Mail and Calendar separately
OpenAI says ChatGPT users can connect iCloud Mail to find emails and catch up on an inbox, and connect iCloud Calendar to check a schedule and update calendar events. The release notes date the feature to October 27 and list availability across ChatGPT plans on the web, desktop app and iOS.
Mail and Calendar are separate plugins, so connecting one does not connect the other. OpenAI's connected-app guidance says both include read-only contact lookup; the announcement does not describe sending email or editing contacts.
Setup uses an Apple app-specific password
To connect, users create an Apple app-specific password and enter it in the relevant ChatGPT connection form. OpenAI says Mail uses an iCloud Mail address, while Calendar uses the primary Apple Account email, which may be different. The help guidance explicitly distinguishes the app-specific password from a regular Apple password.
The rollout is subject to ChatGPT workspace app controls and account permissions. Review the selected account and requested access when connecting either service.
What to expect from the rollout
The connections can help people bring inbox and scheduling tasks into a ChatGPT conversation. Availability still depends on the account, rollout and workspace controls.
OpenAI does not state a separate plugin price in the announcement. Its release notes list support across ChatGPT plans, while the connected-app guidance says plan allowances and app-specific limits can still apply.
